Two new books in progress this autumn

The Bat House: A Montana Memoir by Michael Riley is at the printer as I write this. Mike’s affectionate memoir recounts his struggle, both real and metaphorical, while restoring a farmhouse along the Yellowstone River in Rosebud County, Montana. Reviewer, Teresa Jordan, describes the book better than either Mike or I could: “Many of the great themes of the American West are at play here — man against the wild, man against man, and man against himself; killing and nurture, numbness and vulnerability, isolation and connection. Through this book, Riley explores what it takes to heal both hearth and heart.”

Mike and I worked together for the past two months, proofing, editing, and revising. He has a vintage photo of the house that I scanned to create the cover illustration. The books will be available in paperback in December, and depending on sales, we anticipate a second printing in hardcover. READ MORE

The second book, Eye to the Holy: The story of one congregation’s mission and art is by Sheridan Wyoming Pastor Douglas E. Goodwin. This slim, full-color book beautifully showcases the growth and development of the Sheridan spiritual community, the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) congregation, its ministry, and its inspiring collection of art. This book will also be available in December, and is available through direct purchase from Rev. Doug Goodwin. READ MORE
