R.T. Press :: Collection #1: Vintage Neon

Quirky, offbeat neon signs were familiar roadside landmarks when I was growing up in the American West in the 1950s and 60s. Today they have nearly all disappeared. In recent decades, as I’ve traveled throughout the West, I seek out and photograph what remains of these old signs. In the studio, I digitally alter the photos to intensify the unique character of each design. These remnants of our recent past are delightful reminders of the commerce, architecture, design, and optimism of an earlier time.
